Description: The Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation is a scholarship fund for at-risk youth attending a Title 1 high school in Mecklenburg County. The scholarship fund is created as a resource for four students. The Fund identifies that a traditional four-year college degree is not the path for everyone by encouraging developmental growth opportunities for disadvantaged youth and creating value for the trade or vocational community. As part of its mission, the Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation – Carolinas chapter provides scholarships to four trade-bound students from North Carolina who are pursuing a major in engineering, math, trades, computer science, accounting, finance, electrical or business administration.

Eligibility Requirements:

Minimum Eligibility:

  • Graduating senior at a North Carolina high school
  • Must attend a two-year accredited trade or vocational school located in North or South Carolina
  • Must plan to major in engineering, computer science, the sciences, accounting, electrical, finance or business administration
  • Must have a weighted GPA of 3.5 or above (official transcript)
  • Submit a brief 300-word essay on the importance of overcoming an obstacle and how a trade/vocation can be useful

Always Believe Program

The Always Believe program will focus on fueling and empowering families in transit. This program will look to provide meals and emergency resources to empower those in transit to find stability. By taking a holistic approach, families in transit will have the opportunity to be a part of the Always Believe Program to receive support and access to community resources.
