Gene Parker, Jr.
Gene Parker is an accomplished Information Technology Executive with a record of achievement in IT Solution Delivery, Business Consulting, Application Development, Product Design, Project Management, Process Improvements, and Enterprise IT Governance. His experience is amplified by exposure to a wide range of industries such as Retail eCommerce (Apparel, Consumer Electronics, Gifting, Sports/ Sporting Goods, and Toys), Healthcare, Financial Services, and Aerospace & Defense.
Gene’s career has spanned roles at IBM, eBay, Belk, Premier Healthcare, and now at Novant Health. While an Executive at Belk, he created a community service program. In his current role, Gene leads all digital application development spanning Novant’s web/mobile applications for patients, consumers, caregivers, healthcare providers, team members, and job seekers.
Gene has an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Industrial Engineering. While in college, he was the President of the University of Pittsburgh chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Later, Gene became a Board Member of the Sedgwick Cultural Center, located in Philadelphia, PA. He also holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Maryland University College. Gene is also a certified project management professional (PMP) and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB).
Gene’s hobbies include real estate development/construction, traveling, and volunteering/mentoring and he is involved in many programs through his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Gene also serves on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas and has played an integral role in their marketing and technology endeavors.
