Charlotte, NC Non-profit Always Believe, Inc. is kicking off its MB1 Program sponsored in part by Reebok on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Reid Park Academy from 8:30 AM ET through 12 PM ET. In support of Trees Charlotte’s efforts to achieving 50 percent of Charlottean canopy coverage by 2050, volunteers from Always Believe, Wells Fargo, and the Junior League will convene to plant more than 200 trees on the campus of Reid Park Academy.
Organized to assist at risk youth ages 12 through 18 in the involvement of activities focusing on student athletics, and leadership development, Always Believe’s MB1 program offers young players the opportunity to participate in basketball tournaments across the country many of which will host attendance of sporting scouts. In partnership with Reebok, team members will enjoy Reebok athletic wear, sponsored travel, tutoring services and educational seminars covering math, science and reading.
“The community of Charlotte is the bedrock to my development of Always Believe. With the help from Reebok, our team is expected to connect more than 25 young Charlotteans with the tools they need to succeed in athletics and beyond, kicking off our program by planting seeds for the future of this city is the perfect fit,” said founder and former NBA player, Muggsy Bogues.
Locals may register online to serve as a volunteer, all participants will receive a commemorative tee shirt; lunch will be served. Local vendors and business leaders are encouraged to take part. For more information about sponsorship opportunities contact Brittney Bogues, [email protected].
Despite the recent economic recovery, poverty is on the rise. Always Believe addresses this trend by developing programs that expands horizons of young athletes via out-of-reach travel, education, and training superlatives.
